Help HeavenSent to Keep Jamaican Youths in School is a fundraiser for
Seeds Project Ministry

Isn't it heartbreaking that over 50% of the Jamaican population struggles to read and write and has dropped out of school before age 17? Many families are facing the harsh reality of poverty while many youths, starting at the tender age of 9 years, are forced to work to send themselves to primary and secondary school.

Jamaica is heavily populated with single-parent households. Many single parents are providing for their families without any financial support, placing a burden and unfair pressure on countless children to adapt to these unfortunate circumstances. Children are then forced to take on adult roles and responsibilities, forsaking their dreams of pursuing higher education.

Covid also heightened the mental pressure of our little ones, as many have lost sources of financial assistance. We have heard unending reports of attempted suicide and committed suicide in the last two years due to feeling lost in the web of financial challenges causing them to drop out of school at the height of obtaining certifications.

Compounding these societal pressures is poor school attendance which consequently affects academic performance, where they may fail at passing critical subjects to obtain a high school certificate. According to UNESCO, approximately 28% of Jamaicans have obtained tertiary education.  With little to no means of purchasing learning devices such as exercise books, text books, tablets or laptops, brilliant minds are left to struggle in completing assignments, projects and class tasks. But doesn't everyone deserve an opportunity to learn and develop areas of their lives to be effective in the society we live in?

That is where HeavenSent Foundation comes in. Our mission is to operate as Christ's ambassadors on earth and challenge this saddening phenomenon on our beautiful island of Jamaica. Our vision is to be the beacon of hope and light to our promising Jamaican youths by providing scholarships and grants for academics, community involvement, performing arts, and sports because we know that Jamaica possesses talented treasures. The goal of the HeavenSent Foundation is to remind those around us that all things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. Your gifts act as a bridge transporting them from a land of disappointments into the land of endless pursuits.

By donating today, you will be equipping our kids to continue their pursuit of higher education at the primary, secondary and tertiary level. Your gifts will equip them with tablets/laptops to assist in completing assignments and grant them the opportunity to partake in virtual learning sessions. Your support today will provide these children with the prescribed textbooks that will assist them to complete assignments and get enough practice for external exams. Your generosity will make a lasting impact through providing crucial scholarships and grants so that they will be able to attend school without feeling bombarded by poverty-stricken tasks. Thank you for investing in the brilliant minds of our Jamaican youth!

Our Story

Ministry today looks different than in the past. Every day, new leaders are emerging who are eager to cultivate new forms of Christian community through innovative ministries. These leaders are developing new ways of being church in a changing world. The Holy Spirit is at work through them, but the established church structures aren’t necessarily designed to support and connect them. That leaves many of these leaders feeling isolated, disconnected, and in need of support, encouragement, and resources.

That’s where the Seeds Project comes in. The Seeds Project supports innovative leaders, through a fully-funded fellowship, who are called to cultivate Christian faith in an age in which people are likely to seek the good without God. One Seeds Project alum described it as an, “opportunity for faith innovators who are committed to their call to serve Jesus ... and are looking for creative and original ways to do it.” Another alum said the Seeds Project for them was, “a place for growth, a place for creative thinking, and a place truly for innovation.”

This year’s Seeds Project Fellows need your help to get their ministries off the ground. For the first time ever, you will have an opportunity to directly support new and innovative ministry projects designed by the Seeds Project Fellows.

You can support any of the Seeds Project Fellows’ ministries. Follow along with the fellows through March 2024 as your gifts are put into action and see the real-life impact your generosity can have for Christian communities across the country.
